Berlin

Still no chance of posting photos; seems internet cafes in mainland Europe are scared of USB ports.

We did the big 6 hour drive from Amsterdam to Berlin yesterday and are staying at a lovely campingplatz on a lake on the outskirts of Berlin, one direct bus to the centre of town. Today (Sunday) was a bit of a day of getting our bearings and walking the old city. We have seen remnants of the Wall, Checkpoint Charlie, Brandenburg Gate, some museums or galleries inside old churches in East Berlin that must have been "decomissioned" during the period of 1961 - 1989, etc. We went up the 230m high Tower (like Sydney's and KL's) to see the view over Berlin. Hopefully we'll get a chance to post some photos soon, but it doesn't look promising. It has started raining again this afternoon, so we are sheltering in this internet cafe and updating the blog, checking mail.

Thanks for all your comments guys, we love reading them. We hope you understand when we don't reply to each individual one. Until soon...

Comments:
I love reading your friends' comments, too! Great fun. Would it be too sad to admit it is almost the highlight of my day? Compared to your lives at the moment, mine is a sad existence...
(Out with the violins to play a sorrowful lament).
Hope you are heaping the cream into your coffee, hot chocolate and on top of all those big fat cakes!

Hi Ian and Gail

Not sure how to mail you privately so everyone can get to read this. Lucky them! Feel free to reply to my hotmail address.

Just wondering if your wacky plans will have a window for your sober English friend to join you say sometime in October or November for a few days? If not, that's absolutely fine, no pressure! If so, that would be great. I need to start scheduling my time between now and Christmas - before I get so booked up with work that I can't get away (very highly sought after, don't you know!!)

Hope you are managing to speak a bit of German - perhaps I should have given you a couple of lessons before I let you loose on Europe...

Glad you are still having a good time (and glad your friends think it's warm in Merry Ole England - the weather has been rubbish since you left in mid-August - it's a bit sunnier today...) and looking forward to hearing from you.

It's now official and you can blab (but I don't know who will listen or care over there but) we're 15 weeks preggo and all is well. Apparently I'm making fingernails this week and bub is the weight of a king size cherry ripe. Mmmmm...cherry ripe!!! Oh yes, and that brings me to the question of WHERE IS MY CHOCOLATE PACKAGE???

Oh dear, oh dear, we should have known our comments about bucket fulls of cheap Lindt choccy would have stirred everyone up. Quite fun, really!
